This week I worked on actually carving out the background and having the kangaroos still forward. Originally I was going to have four slabs, but I decided to only have three, because I thought it looked better. I drew out the kangaroos and the tree, and then carved out everything around it.
It was hard having to make sure everything was even and smooth and I still have to fix some edges and parts to make it more even. I also still need to fix the second kangaroos arm and face to make it look more like a kangaroo.
Next week, I have to fire it and then I can melt the glass in the background. I decided that I want to leave the animals and the tree black, so that the glass can really stand out and create a faded sunset behind it!
I can't wait to see how it turns out!
