My thinking about solving problems has evolved very much during this unit. In the beginning, I thought of solving problems as in a problem that you face along the way of creating your art. Later, I realized solving problems could be something as simple as changing a part of your artwork to make it better. I also didn't realize that artists really have to think outside of the box to solve a problem in a situation.
I applied my problem solving techniques from this unit to create artwork using nature. The first problem I faced was simply just trying to figure out what I wanted to create and what should I make it out of. I first thought about nature and then came to a solution of wanting to make a butterfly out of leaves and flowers. I like the idea of making a butterfly because butterfly's are a part of nature, not made out of it. After I created the butterfly using leaves as wings , the butterfly was finished. But, I had a lot of empty space in many places; i wanted to add more but still wasn't sure what to add. I wanted the make the butterfly artwork realistic so I put flowers to make it look like the butterfly is flying over the flowers like in reality or actual nature.

I wanted to make my limitation something different where I could only use one material. I chose for that material to be newspaper because I thought of the idea of a mannequin with a dress, but to make the dress and the stand out of newspaper. I faced several problems during this project. First was trying to make the stand sturdy enough so that the mannequin could sit on it. Newspaper can easily be crushed so I had to roll up many rolls of newspaper to get it to stay and be strong. Once I got the stand I came to another problem; how was I going to make the build of the mannequin? It was very difficult but once it was set up it worked! I then had to make the actual dress itself. I started off doing the dress in several different pieces of newspaper. It wasn't until the second to last day of working time did I think to crinkly the newspaper and make the dress look different. Another problem that was faced was that the mannequin wouldn't stand up on the stand, so I had to make another small stand and a lot of hot glue to get it to stay. Wrapping the newspaper to the back of the mannequin was also very hard because sometimes I had to make new pieces of newspaper so that it would fit all the way around. I really liked the way it turned out, I like how i put some color using newspaper in the dress but still kept the dress the actual newspaper. Im very glad I chose this limitation and object to create.
